Revenue Cycle Patient Advocate

The Revenue Cycle Patient Advocate is responsible for fielding inbound patient phone calls and messages regarding billing-related concerns and other general inquiries. This position will serve as an advocate for our patient’s concerns and do applicable research to provide clarification. This role is well-suited for an individual with a background in Revenue Cycle with a focus on patient service. This position will report to the Revenue Cycle Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Serve as an advocate for our patient’s billing-related concerns and escalate when appropriate
  • Review and update patient insurance and demographic information
  • Review financial responsibility with patient to determine origination and provide clarification where needed
  • Use each patient interaction as an opportunity to education them on the billing process, including common insurance terminology (deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums)
  • Process payments for outstanding patient balances
  • Counsel patient regarding alternative payment arrangements including payment plans and other financial assistance
  • Assist with processing patient credit balances and refunds
