Ask The Expert: Get Rid of Spider Veins
August 10, 2015 /
How do you treat Spider Veins at Sona MedSpa?
At Sona MedSpa, we use the YAG laser for vein treatments. It is a precise, easily directed laser that is excellent for targeting those small spider veins. The laser targets each vein with an intense light applied in a series of gentle pulses. Without damaging the outer layer of skin, the light penetrates through the skin and breaks up the vein, which is then absorbed by the body as part of the natural healing process.
Who is a good candidate to treat Spider Veins?
A good candidate would be the one that talks about those ugly veins on his/her legs. They would probably even mention not wearing shorts or a bathing suit because of their self-consciousness.
What areas of the body can you treat Spider Veins?
We can treat spider veins on the legs and broken capillaries on the face.
When should one expect to see results?
Some results are instant. When the vein is “zapped” it just disappears. Some veins may require additional treatments.
Have you ever had this procedure done on yourself? If so, how do you like your results?
Yes, I have had vein treatments on my legs. My results were awesome. I had a silver dollar size dark purple spider on the inside of my knee and after 3 treatments it is almost completely gone.
Why would you recommend this procedure for Spider Veins?
I would recommend this treatment to clients that have clearly visible spiders. Spider veins aren’t pretty and can be embarrassing to anyone. We all feel better when we feel we look our best.
What was one of the most rewarding client transformations you’ve seen?
I treated a client that had been hit with a shot put at a track meet. There was a softball size cluster of red and purple veins. It took a while but the veins responded to the treatment and she was left with only a few veins visible. She was so excited to wear shorts and skirts again.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is when a client bounces into the office and hugs me and tells me how pleased he or she is with their treatment results.
