Ask An Expert: Skin Rejuvenation with AFT
August 5, 2015 /
Q: How does AFT differ from other laser skin rejuvenation technology
AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) is a laser rejuvenation treatment designed to remove damage caused by sun exposure as well as treat conditions that are worsened by sun exposure, such as rosacea. This treatment targets hyperpigmentation or dark spots on the skin as well as redness and broken capillaries. Because it specifically targets these types of concerns, it is superior to traditional Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and photofacial therapies, which treat broader concerns and are not as target specific.
Q: Who is a good candidate for AFT laser rejuvenation?
An ideal candidate would be someone who has unwanted dark spots, redness or broken capillaries either caused by sun exposure or due to aging. Individuals with rosacea also benefit from AFT because it can successfully treat the excessive redness and networks of broken capillaries frequently associated with this condition.
Q: How does AFT Laser Treatment work?
AFT uses light energy to target melanin (which contributes to dark pigmentation) as well as red tones. This energy heats these concentrated areas of redness and pigmentation and causes the areas to fragment or break up and later be absorbed or removed by the body.
Q: When should you begin to see results?
You can begin to see results as early as the first treatment, and will continue to see improvement throughout the treatment process.
Q: Why would you recommend AFT?
I would recommend AFT because I know that this treatment is successful and it is the treatment of choice for clients with pigmentation concerns.
Q: Have you received AFT? If so, how do you like your results?
Yes, I have received AFT treatments and I love my results! I have had years of sun damage removed and now have a younger, more rejuvenated even skin tone and appearance.
Q: What was one of the most rewarding client transformations you’ve seen?
One of the most rewarding experiences that I had was with a client doing treatments before her bridal photos and her wedding day. Prior to treatments, she had to use thick layers of makeup to cover up the dark pigmentation on her face and neck and she had very little confidence in her appearance because of the amount of makeup she had to use to cover up these dark spots. After she had treatments, she was in tears because of the positive changes in her skin and because she no longer had to use layers of makeup because the dark pigmentation had been removed. She was able to have the skin she desired for her portraits and for the most important day of her life.
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
I love being able to restore a client’s confidence! There is nothing more rewarding than being able to improve or restore a client’s self-esteem.
